Netflix Makes Season Downloads a Breeze for iPhone and iPad Users
Despite the criticisms Netflix faces for its handling of original content, the service continues to offer a vast library of binge-worthy shows, particularly when accessed through a VPN to unlock region-restricted content. A feature that’s been around for a while is the ability to download episodes for offline viewing, and now, Netflix has made it even easier to watch your favorite shows while on the go.
Previously available only on the Android app, the Season Download button has now arrived on iPhones and iPads, allowing users to download an entire season with just a single tap. This is a big win for those looking to binge entire seasons—like Seinfeld’s 180 episodes—without having to individually download each one.
How to Download an Entire Season
To download a full season, search for the series you want to watch. Once on the show’s details page, you’ll see the usual “Play” and “Download” buttons. Scroll a bit further down to find the “Download Season” button, located next to “My List,” “Rate,” and “Share.” Clicking it will instantly start downloading all episodes of the season, and once they’re downloaded, you can find them in the “My Netflix” tab for offline access.
Who Gets Access to Season Downloads?
Season downloading is available on Android devices, Fire tablets, and iPhones/iPads with the latest Netflix apps. Keep in mind, however, that download limits are still subject to your Netflix subscription. Ad-free plans allow for up to 100 active downloads per device, while ad-supported plans are capped at 15 downloads per device per month. So, if you’re on an ad-supported plan, you might hit that limit after downloading just one or two seasons.
