DirecTV’s MySports Package Launches to Compete with Venu Sports
DirecTV has unveiled its MySports package, targeting sports fans with an affordable bundle of 40 sports channels at $49.99 per month. This launch comes after the collapse of Venu Sports, a similar sports streaming service that never saw the light of day. MySports offers key sports channels like ESPN, ESPN2, Fox Sports 1, MLB Network, and NFL Network, along with access to local ABC, Fox, and NBC channels. The bundle also includes ESPN+ and additional local stations that are expected to be available shortly.
The package is being offered at a promotional price of $49.99 for the first three months, but subscribers should be aware that the price will jump to $69.99 per month after the promotion expires on February 28. This price hike is a far cry from the $42.99 price point that Venu Sports had originally planned.
For those looking for cheaper alternatives, Sling TV Orange offers ESPN channels for $45.99 per month but lacks the range of sports networks included in MySports. On the other hand, more expensive streaming services like Hulu + Live TV and Fubo also offer access to ESPN and other sports channels, but at prices exceeding $80/month.
With Venu Sports no longer a factor in the market, DirecTV’s MySports package represents a shift in the sports streaming landscape, offering a competitive price point for those who want access to a wide array of sports coverage. Additionally, the upcoming launch of Disney’s ESPN standalone service will offer even more options for sports lovers looking to cut the cord.
