Fans of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl worried about performance challenges can breathe a sigh of relief thanks to Nvidia’s latest benchmarks. In a recent blog post, the GPU giant revealed how its RTX 40 Series lineup handles the demanding Unreal Engine 5 title, demonstrating impressive results. Even without DLSS 3.0 enabled, the mid-range RTX 4070 averaged 70 FPS at 1080p and 52 FPS at 1440p. Enabling DLSS 3.0, however, dramatically increased performance, doubling frame rates and reinforcing the value of Nvidia’s technology in demanding games.
The results may also address concerns about CPU bottlenecks in Stalker 2. Nvidia’s graphs suggest that DLSS 3.0 significantly reduces CPU reliance by leveraging Frame Generation and Super Resolution to shift computational work to the GPU. Given Unreal Engine 5’s Lumen and Nanite systems, which are known to be CPU-intensive, this optimization could prove critical for maintaining smooth gameplay.
Desktop benchmarks used powerful Intel Core i9-14900K CPUs with 64GB RAM, showcasing how various RTX 40 Series GPUs performed. At 4K, GPUs like the RTX 4090 and RTX 4070 Ti Super delivered over 100 FPS with DLSS 3.0 activated, more than doubling their performance compared to non-DLSS benchmarks. At 1440p, even the RTX 4060 Ti achieved a respectable 72.9 FPS. Meanwhile, 1080p benchmarks revealed exceptional results, with the RTX 4090 hitting a staggering 165.9 FPS with DLSS enabled.
On the mobile side, Nvidia’s RTX 40 Series laptop GPUs also showcased remarkable gains. Using configurations with Intel i9-13980HX CPUs and 32GB RAM, the benchmarks again displayed a consistent 2x performance boost with DLSS 3.0 enabled, ensuring that laptops can deliver high-quality gaming experiences even in demanding titles.
While these benchmarks provide a promising glimpse into the performance capabilities of Nvidia’s GPUs, independent testing will be crucial to verify their accuracy. Still, the early results suggest that gamers equipped with Nvidia’s RTX 40 Series cards will be well-prepared for the challenges of Stalker 2 and its advanced graphics engine.
