Microsoft is set to roll out a revamped Settings page in its Edge browser, a move designed to make navigating its many options far easier. First spotted by Windows Latest, these planned updates are detailed on the Microsoft 365 roadmap under “Microsoft Edge: Elevating top settings and improving settings page navigability.” This refresh comes as Microsoft acknowledges the increasingly labyrinthine structure of the current Settings layout, aiming to streamline access to key features and tools for a more user-friendly experience.
The planned updates will include three main changes. First, Microsoft will introduce a quick-access feature for the most-used actions directly on the Edge Settings landing page. This ensures that frequently needed tools and settings are only a click away, reducing the time users spend navigating through submenus. Secondly, individual pages, such as Privacy, Appearance, Cookies and Site Permissions, and System and Performance, will feature quick-access links to the most frequently used actions in each category. By implementing these shortcuts, Microsoft is aiming to make even the most detailed settings sections easy to browse.
Finally, each of these populated pages will have a new table-of-contents style navigation. Users will be able to click through to sub-sections more intuitively, allowing for targeted, organized browsing within each section. These updates should help clean up the dense layout of Edge’s current Settings page, making it more accessible and less overwhelming for all users.
Microsoft expects to release these changes starting in October, though they may take longer to reach all users in the stable version of Edge. When live, these improvements should enhance Edge’s usability, giving users a Settings page that’s far simpler to navigate without sacrificing access to Edge’s many customization options.
