At this year’s QuakeCon, id Software has announced the release of enhanced versions of Doom and Doom II, featuring major upgrades and additional content. Available now on Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store for just $10, these updates bring substantial improvements to both games. Current owners can upgrade for free.
The new editions boast 4K resolution and support for up to 120 FPS, ensuring a visually stunning experience. They also feature cross-platform multiplayer, enabling players to connect regardless of their system. New content includes extra deathmatch maps, a 16-player co-op mode, and fresh chapters in the Doom storyline. Notably, John Romero has contributed a special episode called “Sigil,” bridging the gap between Doom and Doom II. Modding support allows for additional custom content creation.
Released on August 8, 2024, the updated Doom and Doom II are compatible with PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, reviving these classics with modern enhancements.
