Firefox 135 has arrived, and as expected, AI integration is one of its headline features. Unlike Microsoft Edge’s Copilot or Brave’s Leo AI, Mozilla isn’t launching its own AI but instead integrates access to third-party chatbots, including Claude, ChatGPT, HuggingChat, and Le Chat Mistral.
Previously in an experimental phase, this AI feature is now gradually rolling out to all users, offering easy access to multiple chatbots without requiring separate browser extensions. However, Firefox isn’t covering the cost of AI services, meaning users will need their own subscriptions for premium features. AI access is available through the sidebar’s “sparkle” button, with the ability to switch providers via a drop-down menu.
Beyond AI, Firefox 135 improves translation support, adding Chinese, Japanese, and Korean to its list of languages. The update also introduces a history manipulation safeguard, preventing websites from abusing the back button by inserting unwanted pages—an issue commonly encountered in other browsers.
On the security side, CRLite certificate revocation checking is now enforced, helping ensure that website certificates are properly disclosed and monitored for transparency.
While AI integration in browsers remains a polarizing topic, Firefox users now have an option to experiment with AI-powered tools or simply ignore the feature altogether. Meanwhile, the enhanced security and usability improvements make this update valuable even for those who aren’t interested in AI.
