Until now.

In one memorable scene, Antetokounmpo stops his van and walks out of the middle of the crowded Balogun Market so he can trade a replica of his Milwaukee Bucks jersey with a vendor.
Antetokounmpo has been a brand partner of WhatsApp since 2022, when he starred in the messaging app’s first global campaign. He told Fast Company at the time about his longstanding ties to the product. When he first came to the United States from Greece to play in the NBA, he came alone, and WhatsApp was his lifeline to stay in touch with family, friends and loved ones. “It allowed me to connect with them and was a huge part of my life,” Antetokounmpo said.
The film is minimally branded, with only a few nodes added to the messaging product. In several instances, Antetokounmpo is seen video messaging and sharing photos with his family on WhatsApp. A subtle touch is the two small check marks that appear at the bottom right of each movie title, introducing new scenes; This is a nod to the same check marks that indicate a WhatsApp message has been seen or read. Emphasizing its role in keeping people connected, especially the worldwide diaspora, WhatsApp continues its brand work.
It’s been a busy week off the court for Antetokounmpo. The NBA star announced his newest business venture, Improbable Media, with former ESPN analyst Jay Williams. The company’s first major project is a feature-length documentary chronicling his life called Giannis: The Marvelous Journey, which will be released on Prime Video on February 19.
