Intel is gearing up for its next processor series, Panther Lake, following the launches of Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake. At the recent Lenovo Tech World event, CEO Pat Gelsinger presented a prototype of Panther Lake, while also revealing an unexpected collaboration with AMD to enhance x86 architecture.
Gelsinger highlighted the integration of Intel’s Core Ultra processor in Lenovo’s new Aura Edition PCs, emphasizing advancements in battery life and performance. He teased the Panther Lake sample, which is slated for release in the first half of 2025, suggesting it will build upon the successes of earlier processor lines.
While Panther Lake may be focused on laptops, its potential application for desktops, like Arrow Lake, is still to be confirmed. Both Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake have been produced primarily by TSMC, with Intel overseeing the packaging. This shift comes amid significant company restructuring, including layoffs, as Intel seeks to reclaim its manufacturing edge.
Hot Hardware speculates that Panther Lake could be part of Intel’s Core Ultra Series 300 CPUs, featuring updated performance cores. As Intel prepares for this launch, the anticipation surrounding Panther Lake continues to grow.
