Intel will officially launch its next-generation Lunar Lake Core Ultra processors at IFA in Berlin on September 3, with a livestreamed event scheduled for 9am PT. The event will cover the new processors’ breakthrough advancements in x86 power efficiency, core performance, graphics capabilities, and AI computing power.
Intel’s executive vice president Michelle Johnston Holthaus and senior vice president Jim Johnson will host the event, which will also feature contributions from notebook partners. Attendees can expect a two-phase reveal: an initial technical overview of the chip’s features and performance, followed by a detailed product breakdown with various models and specifications.
Following a technical preview at Computex, the full Lunar Lake product details will be unveiled in Berlin. Although notebook launches are typically announced at CES in January, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger has indicated that Lunar Lake will be available this fall, supported by over 80 partner designs.
Additionally, Intel’s Arrow Lake desktop processors are anticipated to launch in the fourth quarter of 2024, although they won’t be highlighted at IFA.
The Lunar Lake processors bring significant changes, including on-package DRAM with fixed RAM options of 16GB or 32GB and a core architecture of four efficiency cores and four performance cores. Hyperthreading has been removed, but the new 48 TOPS NPU and Xe2 graphics architecture promise impressive performance gains, with the latter set to feature in a future discrete GPU for desktops named Battlemage.
