On Wednesday, Apple unveiled a major update for Windows users who use iTunes for Windows to manage their iPhone or access Apple Music and Apple TV. For users of Windows 10 or later, Apple has introduced new standalone experiences for Apple Music and Apple TV, as well as a new Devices management app that is recommended over iTunes for Windows.
The Apple Devices app is designed for iPhone users to manage their devices, including performing backups, syncing data, and installing iOS updates. The Apple Music app allows users to access the Apple Music service and their personal library, as well as manage music on Apple Devices. The Apple TV app provides access to the Apple TV+ service and personal libraries, with support for 4K playback, subscription services, and MLS Season Pass.
Windows users will continue to use the iTunes for Windows app for audiobooks and podcasts. This app is also the fallback if any of the new apps are not compatible with your PC. iTunes for Windows was first released by Apple on October 16, 2003, with support for iPod and the iTunes Music Store.
Furthermore, Apple has launched a redesigned iCloud for Windows app. This new app offers a cleaner interface to see which apps are using iCloud, monitor iCloud+ storage usage, and more. It provides access to iCloud features, including iCloud Photos, iCloud Drive, iCloud Passwords, and iCloud Contacts, Calendars, and Bookmarks.
