If you’re someone who regularly has numerous tabs open in Chrome, you might have observed a decrease in your computer’s performance, particularly when juggling multiple tasks.
The newest beta release of Chrome brings a helpful feature that notifies you when a tab is consuming too many resources, allowing you to take action and close the problematic tab if needed.
To access this feature, you’ll first need to install the latest version of Chrome Canary from Google’s site. Once you’ve installed it, open Chrome Canary and type chrome://flags
into the address bar and press Enter. This will bring up the experimental settings menu for Chrome.
To enable the performance warnings, locate and activate these two flags:
#performance-intervention-ui
#performance-intervention-demo-mode
After enabling these flags, restart your browser. Then, reopen Chrome Canary and enter chrome://settings/performance
into the address bar. You’ll find an option for Performance Issue Alerts, which you can enable according to instructions from Windows Latest.
