Microsoft’s Latest Surface Devices for Business: Intel-Powered, AI-Enhanced, and Ready for the Future

Microsoft is upgrading its Surface Laptop (7th Edition) and Surface Pro (11th Edition) lineup for business customers with new Intel Core Ultra 200 (Lunar Lake) processors. These models mark a departure from the previous Qualcomm Snapdragon chips, offering businesses a choice between x86 and Windows on Arm architecture. Additionally, Microsoft confirmed that an Intel-powered Surface Laptop with 5G connectivity will arrive later this year, expanding options for businesses looking for reliable mobile solutions.

The new Surface Pro and Laptop for Business models will be available from February 18, with both starting at $1,499. As with the consumer versions, the Surface Pro remains a 13-inch tablet, while the Surface Laptop offers both 13.8-inch and 15-inch versions, catering to varying business needs.

One of the standout features of these new devices is their Copilot+ designation. Both the Surface Pro and Laptop use Intel Core Ultra 5 and Core Ultra 7 processors, equipped with NPUs capable of up to 48 TOPS. This enables these devices to leverage AI-enhanced features in Windows, with Recall and Click-To-Do functions already available on Intel-based systems since December. Although Snapdragon-powered devices have been the first to receive full access to these AI features, Microsoft is committed to ensuring that all platforms, including Intel and AMD, receive feature parity in the near future.

In terms of performance, the Surface Laptop offers a 26% performance boost for multitasking, twice the graphics performance, and up to 22 hours of battery life, all compared to the Surface Laptop 5. The Surface Pro for Business continues to offer both OLED and LCD display options, a choice of up to 32GB RAM, and up to 1TB SSD storage. The Pro’s 13-inch display offers 600 nits of brightness with HDR for the OLED variant, while both models feature Thunderbolt 4 ports, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4 for fast connectivity.

Finally, Microsoft unveiled the Surface USB4 Hub, which ships on February 18 for $199.99. This compact hub offers dual 4K60 display support, 65W power delivery, and a gigabit Ethernet port for enhanced connectivity. It complements the Surface aesthetic but can be used with any laptop featuring a USB4 port, adding versatility to business setups.
