Microsoft’s Xbox controllers, including the high-end Xbox Elite series, are often seen as the benchmark for PC gaming. However, if you’re a fan of PlayStation controllers, there’s great news: the PlayStation Accessories app has recently been updated to offer full customization for the DualSense Edge, Sony’s premium $200 controller for the PS5. You can get the new version of the app here.
Previously known as the “Firmware Updater for DualSense Wireless Controller,” the app was limited to updating firmware, a feature that remains for the standard DualSense controller. The new update, however, unlocks extensive customization options for the DualSense Edge. These options include remapping buttons, adjusting analog stick and trigger sensitivity, and customizing vibration and haptic feedback settings. These features are already available when using the controller with a PlayStation 5, but now you can enjoy them on PC as well.
If you’re disappointed by the lack of customization on the standard DualSense, which is priced at $70, Steam’s controller settings might be worth exploring. Steam offers an intuitive way to customize controller inputs with pre-set configurations and a specialized interface for the DualSense.
Sony’s efforts to expand its footprint in the PC gaming space include porting many popular PS4 and PS5 titles and launching simultaneous releases for both platforms. Despite some recent setbacks, like the underwhelming reception of its party-based shooter Concord, Sony’s commitment to the PC market highlights its strategy to reach a broader audience.
