AMD to Finally Reveal Radeon RX 9070 XT After CES No-Show
Following a strange absence at CES 2025, AMD is now officially set to unveil its next-generation Radeon graphics card. David McAfee, Vice President of Ryzen and Radeon, announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the Radeon RX 9070 XT will debut in a dedicated online event on February 28 at 8 AM Eastern via AMD’s Gaming YouTube channel.
AMD’s CES presentation left many puzzled, as the company had originally briefed the press in early January, suggesting that the Radeon RX 9070 XT would be part of its CES 2025 keynote. However, the event came and went without any mention of new GPUs. In the days following CES, AMD executives explained that the decision to delay the Radeon announcement was made to give the new RDNA 4 graphics architecture its own spotlight. However, industry speculation suggests that AMD may have been caught off guard by Nvidia’s RTX 50-series unveiling, which introduced aggressive pricing and a new Multi Frame Generation technology to boost frame rates.
While AMD has yet to reveal specific hardware specs, the Radeon RX 9070 and 9060 series will feature a significant shift in design philosophy. The RDNA 4 architecture places a stronger focus on AI-driven acceleration, reflecting the industry-wide shift toward AI-enhanced graphics rendering. One of the most anticipated features of AMD’s next-gen GPUs is FSR 4.0, an upgraded version of FidelityFX Super Resolution that will finally incorporate dedicated AI cores to improve image quality and performance scaling. AMD aims to close the gap with Nvidia’s industry-leading DLSS technology, offering a more competitive AI-driven upscaling solution.
AMD also noted that a March release window for the RX 9070 XT will allow the company to finalize optimizations for FSR 4.0, ensuring that the first wave of supported games can take full advantage of the new AI-powered enhancements. With AI-driven frame generation and upscaling technologies becoming a key factor in modern GPU performance, this launch could be a make-or-break moment for AMD’s ability to compete in the high-end graphics market.
The February 28th event is expected to provide full details on RDNA 4, performance metrics, and pricing, setting the stage for AMD’s next battle in the GPU wars against Nvidia and Intel.
