Razer’s Handheld Dock Chroma and Monitor Stand Chroma: A Blend of Function and Flash
Razer is known for two things: RGB lighting and its premium pricing. But the new Handheld Dock Chroma for Steam Decks and similar handheld PCs seems to fit into the former category without quite reaching the high price points we’re accustomed to seeing from Razer products. At $79.99 USD, it’s a bit pricier than some third-party alternatives but matches the cost of Valve’s official Steam Deck Docking Station.
This 6-in-1 USB-C dock brings Razer’s signature Chroma RGB lighting, adding a touch of color to your setup. However, the lighting is limited to a single strip at the front, and while the customization options are mentioned, there aren’t many details available on the full extent of adjustments. The dock itself features a fold-down top that helps keep things compact and portable when not in use. It connects via HDMI video output, which should suffice for most users, though it lacks DisplayPort, which you’ll find on Valve’s dock.
The Handheld Dock Chroma is available for pre-order now, and it will hit retailers at the end of January. It offers great value for gamers looking for a handheld dock that combines both style and functionality without the steep cost typically associated with Razer products.
For those who prefer a more desktop-oriented product, Razer is also offering the Monitor Stand Chroma, an aluminum riser that features a 19.7-inch (500mm) shelf and RGB lighting under the front. But it’s not just about looks. The stand also comes with a built-in USB-C hub, offering two USB-A ports, one USB-C (3.2) port, and an HDMI 2.0 port, making it ideal for laptops or setups that don’t need an external GPU.
However, at $200, the Monitor Stand Chroma is on the expensive side, especially compared to other monitor risers. Still, it offers both functionality and the flashy RGB appeal that Razer fans love. The product is up for pre-order, but there’s no clear release date yet.
Whether you’re looking to enhance your portable gaming setup or add a touch of RGB glam to your desktop, Razer’s latest accessories could be just what you’re looking for.
