Red Hat Developer Hub Introduces New Analysis Dashboard for Enhanced Insights

Red Hat has unveiled an exciting update to its Red Hat Developer Hub, an enterprise internal developer portal powered by Backstage. The latest release, Red Hat Developer Hub 1.5, introduced on April 1, brings a valuable new feature—Adoption Insights. This developer preview of the analytical dashboard aims to provide detailed usage metrics, giving development teams greater visibility into how the Developer Hub is being utilized.

The Adoption Insights dashboard offers an array of data to help organizations identify where improvements can be made. By analyzing templates, plugins, and usage metrics, teams can gain a clearer picture of which tools and features are being adopted, along with the frequency of their use. These insights allow companies to make informed decisions on how to enhance user experience and drive greater productivity, ultimately refining their development workflows and tools.

Another major highlight of Red Hat Developer Hub 1.5 is the introduction of the Red Hat Developer Hub Extensions Catalog. This feature provides a centralized catalog of both community-driven and Red Hat-verified plugins. With access to over 60 dynamic plugins, the catalog makes it easier for developers to onboard new tools, boosting efficiency and expanding the capabilities of their development environment. The dynamic plugin framework ensures that plugins can be managed at runtime without the need for rebuilding or redeploying the portal.

Additionally, Red Hat introduced a locally runnable version of the Developer Hub—Red Hat Developer Hub Local. This lightweight, self-contained version offers platform engineers the ability to work on templates, try out plugins, and validate software catalogs without requiring the full installation of Red Hat Developer Hub on a Kubernetes cluster. The quick setup and teardown features of Red Hat Developer Hub Local make it an ideal solution for agile testing and development.
