The buzz around AMD’s X3D processors, renowned for their enhanced V-cache that boosts 3D gaming performance, continues to build. This excitement may partially explain the underwhelming sales of the standard Ryzen 9000 CPUs.
Asus has hinted at the arrival of these coveted X3D chips through a recent leak. Twitter leaker @momomo_us (via PCGamer) discovered a reference to “9000-X3D” in the URL of Asus motherboard support pages. Although the public-facing content of the X870 and X870E motherboard pages doesn’t mention X3D processors, the metadata revealed by VideoCardz.com includes a specific note: “Asus AMD X870E & 870 motherboards are optimized for AMD Ryzen 9000 series X3D processors.”
The exact release date for these processors remains unclear. The Ryzen 7000 series debuted in September 2022, with X3D models arriving in February 2023, suggesting that the Ryzen 9000X3D could be a 2025 release. Nonetheless, given the strong demand for X3D variants among gamers, AMD may expedite their launch. Despite the lack of solid evidence for an earlier release, the URL leak could signal a forthcoming marketing effort. As someone using a 7800X3D, I’m hopeful for an early release but will stay tuned for official updates.
