Samsung’s Odyssey gaming monitors usually grab attention for their massive sizes. They’re really big. However, the latest models bring Samsung’s renowned OLED technology to more practical sizes. Choose between a sizeable 32-inch 4K display or a speed-focused 27-inch screen.
The Odyssey G80SD is perfect for flaunting your top-tier graphics card, featuring a 32-inch, 3840×2160 panel. With built-in streaming tech from Samsung’s smart TVs, you can enjoy it even if your gaming setup is elsewhere. With a 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time, it’s fast, though not exceptionally so. It includes DisplayPort and two HDMI ports but lacks USB-C video, possibly keeping costs reasonable.
For those prioritizing speed, the Samsung Odyssey G60SD offers a 27-inch, 1440p panel with an impressive 360Hz refresh rate. This model forgoes smart features and built-in speakers, catering directly to PC gamers. Both monitors have AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certification, though there’s no mention of Nvidia G-Sync, and share the same ports.
Both models boast flat, “glare-free” panels, which is useful given their somewhat modest 250 nits brightness. They also feature Samsung OLED Safeguard+, a burn-in protection system using a pulsating heat pipe, a new evaporative coolant system, and brightness reduction for static images.
Despite their advanced features, there’s no mention of an extended warranty, which would be a welcome addition. Samsung hasn’t revealed release dates or pricing yet, but as 2024 models, they should hit the market before the year ends.
