Siemens and Microsoft Azure Join Forces to Elevate Product Lifecycle Management

Expanding Customer Choice and Enhancing Manufacturing Efficiency

Siemens is set to offer its Siemens Xcelerator as a Service portfolio of industry software on Microsoft Azure, aiming to provide customers with increased flexibility and enhance product lifecycle management (PLM) for manufacturers.

The collaboration kicks off with the delivery of Siemens’ PLM solution, Teamcenter X, on Azure. This integration allows organizations to leverage Microsoft’s artificial intelligence and security tools, amplifying efficiency and data protection. Furthermore, Siemens’ initiative aligns with the recent launch of the Teamcenter application on Microsoft Teams, fostering seamless communication between frontline workers and design and engineering teams.

Tony Hemmelgarn, President and CEO of Siemens Digital Industries Software, emphasized the customer-centric approach driving this collaboration: “We’re responding to what our customers asked us for. Through this continued collaboration [with Microsoft] plus the latest advancements in AI and Copilot, we’re building on the launch of the Teamcenter app on Teams, which connects frontline factory and service teams to design and engineering teams through Siemens’ industry-leading Teamcenter software for PLM.”

In addition to PLM solutions, Siemens plans to develop a Copilot for Microsoft 365 plugin for the Siemens Teamcenter app on Teams. This plugin will enable workers across the product lifecycle process to efficiently track and prioritize their workloads, facilitating task management within the Teams environment.

Nick Parker, President of Industry and Partnerships at Microsoft, expressed excitement about the collaboration’s potential impact: “As Microsoft and Siemens continue to deepen our collaboration, we are excited to bring the power of Azure AI to the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio to meet growing market demand and help businesses focus on delivering differentiated customer value faster. By harnessing our latest advances with generative AI and Copilot capabilities, together we empower design engineers, frontline workers, and teams across business functions and geographies, unlocking new levels of customer-centric innovation and productivity.”
