Skype is making a big leap forward with major changes designed to enhance user satisfaction. Microsoft is removing all advertisements from Skype, shifting focus towards improving the user interface and integrating new AI capabilities.
Beginning with Insider version 8.125.76.201, Skype will be ad-free across all platforms, including Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. This move is expected to deliver a cleaner, more enjoyable experience, eliminating the previous ad clutter and reducing MSN content, although some elements will remain.
Microsoft is also introducing exciting new AI features to Skype. Users will soon be able to generate images on the fly directly in their chats, thanks to an updated AI-supported image generation tool. Additionally, Skype’s menu navigation has been revamped for faster access, and Mac users will see a new, unified design.
Despite these improvements, Skype still competes with other popular communication apps like Zoom, Teams, and WhatsApp, which are known for their innovative features. These changes are currently available only to Skype Insiders, and it remains unclear when they will be accessible to the general public.
