Teradata VantageCloud Lake Users Can Access Python and R Packages from Anaconda Repository at No Extra Cost
Teradata has announced a strategic partnership with Anaconda to enhance its multi-cloud analytics platform, VantageCloud Lake, by integrating Python and R packages from Anaconda’s extensive repository. This collaboration is set to enrich Teradata’s self-service data analytics solution, ClearScape Analytics, which is embedded within VantageCloud Lake.
The key benefit of this integration is that enterprises using VantageCloud Lake will now have the ability to deploy and operationalize artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) tasks more efficiently. Importantly, subscribers to VantageCloud Lake will be able to access and download Python and R packages from Anaconda’s repository at no additional cost, streamlining their data analysis processes.
Bradley Shimmin, chief analyst at Omdia, highlighted the value of this partnership in simplifying the management of supporting frameworks and libraries. He noted that provisioning these frameworks and managing dependencies can be complex and cumbersome. By leveraging Anaconda’s expertise, Teradata aims to make this process more straightforward for data professionals working with their platform.
Shimmin also pointed out that Teradata’s move reflects a broader market trend where vendors are increasingly focusing on multi-model analytics platforms, such as data warehouses and data lakehouses. These platforms enable enterprises to perform AI tasks directly on their data without the need for data migration. This approach not only improves performance and reduces costs but also simplifies the overall process by minimizing the need for external tools.
While these integrated solutions are still evolving, they represent a significant step forward in the development of analytics platforms. As vendors continue to enhance their offerings, the goal is to provide comprehensive tools for data science tasks within a single platform, avoiding the need to switch to separate services like Amazon SageMaker or DataRobot.
Overall, Teradata’s partnership with Anaconda is a strategic move designed to enhance the capabilities of VantageCloud Lake, providing users with a more robust and cost-effective solution for their AI and ML needs.
