Unlock the Hidden Travel Time Feature in Google Maps
Google Maps includes a feature called Travel Time that’s perfect for planning trips by showing how far you can travel within a specific time limit. This tool is currently available only on the web and supports walking and driving travel methods.
How to activate Travel Time:
- Activation Steps:
- Visit Google Maps in your web browser.
- Hover over the Layers icon in the bottom-left corner.
- Click “More” and then “Travel Time” from the Map Tools section.
- A new panel will appear, allowing you to choose a time limit and travel method.
- Using the Feature:
- Click a location on the map to set your starting point.
- Select a time limit for walking (15 or 30 minutes) or driving (up to 6 hours).
- The map will highlight the areas you can reach within the selected time.
Considerations:
- Travel Time does not factor in real-time traffic conditions, so estimates might not be accurate during busy periods.
- The feature is not available for all locations and may only show data for driving or walking, not both.
Even with these limitations, Travel Time offers an intriguing way to visualize your travel options and can be a helpful tool for planning your routes.
