Xbox and Inworld AI have partnered to develop AI-powered tools for game creators.
As part of the partnership, the firms will develop an AI design co-pilot to assist game designers with creative ideas, turning prompts into detailed scenarios, dialogue trees, quests and more.
“As with all the creative tools we build at Xbox, our goal is to deliver cutting-edge AI tools to game developers of all sizes, around the world and on every platform gamers want to play on,” said Haiyan Zhang. , general manager of Gaming AI at Xbox. “We want to make it easier for developers to realize their vision, try new things, push the boundaries of today’s gaming world, and experiment to improve gameplay, player connection, and more. “We will collaborate and innovate with game creators at Xbox studios and third-party studios as we develop tools that meet their needs and inspire new possibilities for future games.”
Inworld, an M12 portfolio company, will provide expertise in generative AI models for character development. This, when combined with AI solutions, will help companies improve the overall gaming experience.
“Inworld’s goal is to bring characters and virtual worlds to life in ways never before imagined; moving from a scripted player-character dynamic to one that adapts to players’ actions and choices in real time, providing players with a sense of agency. and engagement like never before,” said Ilya Gelfebeyn, CEO of Inworld AI. “Organizing multiple AI models at runtime allows our character engine to power dynamic and responsive character expressions, gestures, dialogue and actions.
“Expanding the character engine’s capabilities will be a key focus of the collaboration, with a dual emphasis on both extending the engine’s AI methods and optimizing it for performance at runtime. While we focus on bringing depth and realism to the characters (and presenting them within the logic and fantasy of their world), what we’re most excited about is how developers will use this groundbreaking technology in ways we can’t yet imagine. ”
