Windows 11 Patch Tuesday Backfires Again—Now With PDF and Firewall Problems
The June Patch Tuesday update for Windows 11 has spiraled into a series of headaches. After releasing update KB5060842 on June 10th, Microsoft was forced to issue a rushed emergency patch (KB5063060) the very next day—only to run into even more issues. And now, a follow-up optional preview update (KB5060829) is creating fresh problems.
Among the bugs is a critical one affecting the Print to PDF feature, especially on systems running Windows 11 24H2. The feature has vanished from the Settings > Printers & Scanners section, and users can no longer activate it through PowerShell either. While this might not impact everyday users, it’s a significant pain point for business and enterprise setups.
The optional KB5060829 update was meant to fix this, but instead, it’s bringing new bugs of its own:
-
Performance slowdowns
-
Mouse input lag when pressing certain key combos in games
-
Firewall errors, which Microsoft says are due to a work-in-progress feature that logs activity on reboot—even if there’s no real threat
While Microsoft has acknowledged the bugs and insists there’s no immediate danger, the situation is messy enough that users are being advised to avoid installing KB5060829 unless absolutely necessary. If you already did, you can try rolling back the update to restore stability.
For now, the safer bet is to wait for July’s Patch Tuesday update, which should (hopefully) deliver fixes without further complications.
