Microsoft 365 Copilot to Unveil New UI and Features in 2025
Microsoft is gearing up for a significant update to the Microsoft 365 app in mid-January 2025, with a redesigned user interface and rebranding under the name “Microsoft 365 Copilot.” This revamp will bring several changes aimed at improving usability and incorporating AI-driven features.
Among the key changes, the app will no longer have a top header. Instead, tools like the user profile, settings, and feedback will be shifted to a new location in the bottom-left toolbar. The feedback button will be housed within the “Settings and more” section. The search box, which was once at the top, will now appear prominently on the homepage, providing a more streamlined way for users to access their content across various storage locations. The overall search functionality remains unchanged.
On the left toolbar, all apps will be aligned to the top, and the AI-based features such as Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat and Copilot Pages will be grouped together to offer better access and organization. Another change includes the removal of the organization logo from the app, although it will still be visible in other Microsoft 365 applications.
Users will also notice the absence of the “Back” button in the Windows version of Microsoft 365 Copilot. Navigation will instead be handled through the left AppBar. The “My Day” feature, which allowed users to access their calendar and to-do lists, will be removed from the Microsoft 365 Copilot app, though it will still be available in other Microsoft 365 apps. Additionally, the “Help me create” feature, which launched in early 2024 to assist users with AI-driven document creation, will be retired. AI-powered tools for content creation will now be part of the Copilot tab, enabling users to draft and brainstorm documents directly within Copilot Chat.
The new Microsoft 365 Copilot app, with its updated design and features, will begin rolling out in mid-January 2025.
