AMD’s Fluid Motion Frames 2 (FMF2) has entered the scene to compete with Nvidia’s DLSS, providing gamers with an AI-driven frame generation technology that promises enhanced performance. After launching in a beta phase within the Adrenalin software in July, FMF2 is now officially included in the stable Adrenalin 24.9.1 release.
This technology is promoted by AMD as “AI-optimized for improved quality and smoothness,” delivering lower latency during frame generation while minimizing the load on integrated graphics systems. FMF2 is also compatible with borderless full-screen mode and supports games utilizing the Vulkan and OpenGL APIs, making it a versatile tool for multi-tasking gamers.
FMF2 supports the RX 6000 and RX 7000 series GPUs for desktops and laptops, as well as integrated systems with RDNA 3 architecture, including high-end laptops featuring Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processors. AMD claims that when used with the Hyper-RX suite, FMF2 can offer up to two or three times the frame rates of standard gameplay—provided you’re using powerful hardware like the RX 7900 XTX.
Beyond FMF2, the Adrenalin 24.9.1 update brings features such as “geometric downscaling” to address artifacts in resized windows and adds HYPR-Tune support for newer titles like Black Myth Wukong, Space Marine II, and Frostpunk 2. The update is available for download now.
