Abode Debuts Apple TV App and Enhances Android TV App for Better Smart Home Control
Abode Systems, a leader in DIY smart home and security solutions, has officially launched its first-ever Apple TV app and introduced an upgraded version of its Android TV app. The new apps aim to provide an easy and convenient way for users to manage their smart home systems using their TV or set-top box remote, adding another level of ease to controlling self-installed security systems. These updates expand on Abode’s already extensive range of apps for smartphones, tablets, computers, and smartwatches.
The standout feature of the Apple TV app is its ability to let users monitor their security cameras and video doorbells. Users can view live feeds from up to four Abode cameras and also watch recorded clips. With 24/7 recording enabled on AC-powered cameras, you can scrub through a 10-day recording timeline to find specific events, providing a comprehensive overview of your home security from the comfort of your living room.
Abode’s range of smart security products, including the Abode Smart Security Kit and the Abode Iota All-in-One Security Kit, support integration with Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant. However, it’s worth mentioning that Abode’s cameras are not compatible with Apple’s HomeKit Security Video platform.
The upgraded Android TV app offers a similar set of features to its Apple TV counterpart. Although the layout and menus may appear slightly different, Android TV users will enjoy the same camera and security system control options. The app also provides easy management of devices connected to the Abode system.
Currently, Abode has no plans to develop apps for other TV platforms, such as Amazon Fire TV, Roku OS, Samsung’s Tizen, or LG’s WebOS, but it hasn’t ruled out potential future support for these platforms.
