SGS, a testing, inspection and certification (TIC) company, has automated 80 percent of its cross-border product classification processes using Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service. By integrating trade facilitation services with Azure OpenAI Service, SGS has increased the speed and accuracy of tasks such as tax collection and treaty negotiations.
This automation allows SGS employees to focus on more value-added tasks while increasing efficiency. Microsoft praised SGS for harnessing the power of AI and using Azure OpenAI to improve customer experience and empower staff on their digital journey. SGS has been working with Microsoft since January 2022 to develop new digital TIC services.
Montserrat Martinez, SGS Vice President of Trade Facilitation Services, explains that this collaboration enables SGS to provide customers with better tools to meet the challenges of international e-commerce and demonstrates the company’s commitment to innovation and digital transformation.
“This is an expected and natural step within the service digitalisation process that SGS has been following for a few years now,” said Montserrat Martinez, vice president of trade facilitation services at SGS. “By developing these types of solutions, we help our clients with the challenging demands arising from the rise of international e-commerce. Our collaboration with Microsoft means access to cutting-edge technology, enabling us to develop even better tools for our clients to tackle the challenges they face in today’s dynamic business landscape. SGS remains committed to delivering value through innovation and leading the way in the digital transformation of the TIC industry.”
