A recent update for Windows 11 Insiders has introduced several new features, such as jump lists for pinned apps on the Start menu and enhanced file-sharing capabilities from the Windows Search panel, according to reports from Windows Latest. One of the standout features of this update is the addition of a Shared section in File Explorer, positioned next to the existing Recent and Favorite sections.
This new Shared section connects with your Microsoft account and displays files that have been shared with you through various Microsoft platforms, including OneDrive and Teams. For enterprise and educational accounts, it will also showcase files shared within the organization and integrate with Microsoft Entra ID, which is utilized for managing employee access to internal resources.
Despite some initial bugs, the Shared feature in File Explorer holds great promise for users in dynamic teams or organizations where file sharing is frequent. By providing a centralized location for shared files from multiple apps, it can simplify the process of finding necessary documents or images.
At present, this feature is part of the optional KB5043185 update, which is accessible to Windows Insiders on the Dev Channel. A wider release is anticipated in early October.
