Chrome Tests Split-Tab Feature for Side-by-Side Browsing
Google Chrome is introducing a tab-splitting feature that enables users to display two web pages side by side within a single browser window. This experimental feature, uncovered by Leopeva64 and reported by Windows Latest, is currently hidden in Chrome’s latest build and remains inaccessible for now.
The feature is expected to work by right-clicking on a tab and selecting “Split Tab with Active Tab,” dividing the browser view into two panels. Chrome’s addition is similar to Microsoft Edge’s “Split Screen” functionality, which offers users the option to open two tabs in one window via the settings menu or by right-clicking a tab and selecting “Open in Sidebar.”
It’s unclear when Google plans to release this feature in the stable version of Chrome, but once available, it could provide a major productivity boost for multitasking users.
