TP-Link Tapo Unveils Advanced Smart Home Products at CES 2025, Addressing Security and Connectivity Needs
At CES 2025, TP-Link significantly expanded its Tapo smart home ecosystem, introducing a wide range of new products that include security cameras, a smart door lock, a new NVR system, and smart lighting solutions. These new additions promise to offer advanced functionality, enhanced security, and better connectivity for all types of smart homes.
Despite the concerns raised by recent security flaws in TP-Link routers, the company emphasized that TP-Link Systems, which produces the Tapo line, is a separate entity from TP-Link Technologies in China. A company spokesperson confirmed that the products are manufactured in Brazil and Vietnam, ensuring full control over the design and supply chain, and distancing itself from the issues that affected its parent company.
New Smart Security Features
- Tapo PalmKey Smart Door Lock: The PalmKey Smart Door Lock introduces palm-vein recognition technology, a biometric method that scans the unique patterns of veins in your palm for high accuracy and security. This lock also supports multiple unlocking methods, including fingerprint, PIN codes, Wi-Fi remote control, and third-party integrations. With its 10,000 mAh rechargeable battery and IP65 weatherproof rating, it’s built to be reliable in all conditions.
- Tapo C675D Kit: TP-Link’s new Tapo C675D features a 4K dual-lens security camera system that can cover large areas without blind spots. With a wide-angle camera and a pan/tilt camera, both equipped with 4K resolution, the system connects to an included solar panel to maintain battery life without the need for charging cables.
- Tapo C6165D 4G Camera: For large properties or locations with weak Wi-Fi coverage, the Tapo C6165D provides a 4G camera solution with no subscription required. It also integrates with the Tapo NVR system, which offers 24/7 recording from up to 8 cameras. With up to 20TB of storage and AI-powered video analysis, it’s a powerful system for comprehensive surveillance.
Next-Generation Smart Lighting with Tapo Atom Link
- Tapo Atom Link: The Tapo Atom Link lighting system aims to solve the common issue of smart light failures due to internet outages. It combines Wi-Fi and Bluetooth mesh technology to ensure reliable operation, even when the internet connection drops. The Atom Link family includes smart bulbs, smart downlights, and smart switches, all controllable via the Tapo app. Alexa and Google Home support voice commands, while AI creates personalized lighting scenes based on your preferences.
The new Tapo products are set to ship in Spring 2025, with pricing to be confirmed closer to release. TP-Link’s latest additions are poised to provide enhanced security, better connectivity, and smarter home automation.
