According to recent statistics from Statcounter, Windows 10 continues to dominate the Windows ecosystem, with over 64 percent of users sticking with it. Meanwhile, only around 31 percent have upgraded to Windows 11. While Microsoft is clearly eager to move users onto the newer platform, the widespread use of Windows 10 means that the company is still invested in improving the older operating system, even though official support is nearing its end.
Much of Microsoft’s recent attention on Windows 10 has been centered around the Start menu. While it has increasingly been used to promote Microsoft’s products and services, turning it into a sort of digital billboard, the Start menu is also seeing meaningful updates. The latest change being tested brings a key feature from Windows 11 to Windows 10: a new Microsoft 365 account manager icon in the Start menu.
As reported by Windows Latest, this new icon appears in the sidebar of the Start menu and allows for quick switching between Microsoft 365 accounts and local Windows accounts. It also provides instant access to essential options like account settings, lock, sign out, and services like OneDrive. This new addition is part of a broader effort to integrate Microsoft 365 more seamlessly into Windows 10.
However, there doesn’t appear to be an option to disable the account manager or stop the frequent reminders to upgrade to a paid Microsoft 365 subscription. This move seems aimed at keeping Microsoft’s services front and center for users, making it harder to ignore their subscription offerings.
While still in the testing phase, Windows Latest suggests that the new Microsoft 365 account manager integration will likely become available to the general Windows 10 public soon, signaling more changes to the Start menu in the near future.
