The Windows 11 24H2 rollout has seen a variety of issues since its release, and one more bug has come to light. Non-administrator users who updated to Windows 11 24H2 are reporting that they are unable to adjust the time zone in the Date & Time section of Windows Settings. Microsoft has confirmed this issue, stating that the time zone option is simply missing for these users. However, administrators can still modify this setting without issue.
If you need to change the time zone and don’t have administrative privileges, you can work around the problem by using the Control Panel. Here’s how:
- Open the Start menu and search for “control panel.”
- Navigate to Clock and Region > Date and Time > Change time zone. Another quick method is to use the Run command (Windows key + R) and enter timedate.cpl.
Microsoft is investigating the issue and will release a fix in a future update. While the issue is being addressed, some users are also experiencing incorrect system time after daylight saving changes or after waking the system from sleep mode. It looks like a solution won’t be available until at least January 2025.
