XBrew Lab introduced its EverNitro countertop nitro beverage machine at CES this week, aiming to bring nitro coffee into the home without the ongoing cost, waste, and inconvenience associated with cartridge-based systems. The company is positioning EverNitro as a more sustainable and accessible alternative for consumers who enjoy nitro-infused drinks but are put off by the expense and environmental impact of disposable nitrogen canisters.
Nitro coffee is made by infusing cold brew with nitrogen gas, a process that creates fine bubbles and produces a creamy, cascading texture often compared to stout beers like Guinness. The result is a smoother mouthfeel and a naturally sweeter flavor profile, which many drinkers find less bitter than traditional iced or cold brew coffee. While nitro coffee has become increasingly popular in cafés, replicating that experience at home has typically required bulky equipment or recurring cartridge purchases.
EverNitro takes a different approach by generating nitrogen directly from the surrounding air. According to XBrews Lab, the system is capable of achieving nitrogen purity levels of up to 95 percent, eliminating the need for single-use cartridges altogether. Founder and CEO Terry Tan describes the product as delivering “the quality of a commercial tap with the footprint of a coffee maker,” emphasizing that instead of selling consumable gas, the company relies on proprietary technology to extract nitrogen at no ongoing cost to the user. This design choice not only lowers long-term expenses but also positions the device as a more environmentally friendly option for home use.
In hands-on testing, the machine proved straightforward to operate and compact enough to fit comfortably on a kitchen counter or be stored on a shelf when not in use. The included canister is versatile, supporting not only coffee but also cocktails and other beverages that benefit from nitrogen infusion. Users can fine-tune the output by selecting pressure levels ranging from 0 to 8 BAR, allowing for control over texture and intensity depending on the drink being prepared.
The preparation process is relatively quick, taking just a few minutes from filling the canister to pouring the finished beverage. A companion app provides status updates and additional convenience, reinforcing the product’s positioning as a modern, connected appliance rather than a novelty gadget.
EverNitro launched on Kickstarter in October and has already raised more than $570,000, signaling strong demand despite its premium pricing. The Lite package, which includes the machine and a single canister, is priced at $470, with early backers able to purchase it for $290. The Pro version retails for $583, or $337 for backers, and adds a second canister, a coffee bean preservation jar, and whipped cream kits. While the upfront cost is significant, XBrews Lab is quick to point out that competing countertop systems such as NitroBrew can cost around $1,000, making EverNitro a comparatively affordable entry point into at-home nitro beverages over the long term.
