Apple is reportedly planning several upgrades for the standard iPhone 18, although the model may not arrive alongside the company’s usual flagship lineup. The device is expected to feature a new A20 processor manufactured using a 2nm process, bringing potential improvements in performance and power efficiency.
The iPhone 18 is also rumored to receive additional RAM and a smaller Dynamic Island similar to the design expected on the iPhone 18 Pro. Apple could also equip the handset with its newer C2 modem technology, which is reportedly being prepared for other upcoming iPhone models.
Before the standard iPhone 18 arrives, Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 18e and the second-generation iPhone Air 2 at a spring launch event. The iPhone 18e is tipped to closely resemble its predecessor while receiving a faster processor and 9GB of RAM.
The iPhone Air 2, meanwhile, could receive more noticeable hardware changes. Reports suggest that Apple may add a second rear camera, potentially an ultra-wide sensor, alongside a larger battery to improve photography capabilities and battery endurance.
A spring iPhone announcement would not be unusual for Apple. The company has previously used spring events to introduce devices such as the original iPhone SE in 2016, a new purple colour option for the iPhone 12 series in 2021, and the third-generation iPhone SE in 2022.
