Apple has increased the prices of several older iPhone models following its latest September hardware event. The changes became visible after the company reopened its online store, which had been temporarily taken offline while Apple updated its product lineup with newly announced devices.
During the September 9 event, Apple introduced its latest iPhone 18 lineup, its first foldable iPhone, new Apple Watch models and updated AirPods. While attention initially focused on the new hardware, the refreshed online store also revealed unexpected price increases for some previous-generation iPhones.
The iPhone 17e now starts at $699, up from its previous $599 price tag. The standard iPhone 17 has also increased from $799 to $899, while the iPhone Air has moved from a starting price of $999 to $1,099. Each of these models has therefore received a $100 price increase.
The iPhone 16 is one notable exception, with its starting price remaining unchanged at $799. Apple has not publicly detailed the reasons behind the higher pricing for the affected older models.
The latest adjustments follow broader price increases across Apple’s hardware portfolio earlier this year. Several Mac and iPad models previously received increases of roughly 15 percent to 25 percent, indicating a wider shift in pricing across parts of the company’s product range.
