Keychron’s Giant 100-Key Macro Pad Brings DIY Keyboard Design to $65

Keychron has turned the DIY mechanical keyboard community’s love of oversized macro pads into a finished product with the C100 8K Giant Custom Macro Pad. The unusual 10×10 device packs 100 programmable mechanical keys into a single grid and is priced at just $64.99.

A 100-Key Programmable Macro Pad

The C100 features 100 mechanical keys arranged in a 10×10 grid, with a USB-C connection for connecting it to a PC. The included keycaps are completely blank, allowing users to replace them with their own keycaps for a more personalized look.

Each key uses Keychron’s Apex switches, with 100 switches included. They can also be replaced with other MX-compatible switches, giving users plenty of room to customize the feel and sound of the macropad.

The entire device is programmable through QMK and Keychron’s web-based Launcher tool, allowing users to assign custom functions across the large grid of keys.

RGB Lighting and 8,000Hz Polling

Despite its intentionally simple, DIY-inspired design, the C100 includes several modern features. It has RGB lighting, fold-out feet and an unusually high 8,000Hz polling rate.

The polling rate is considerably higher than what most users would need from a macro pad, but it fits with the trend toward increasingly high polling rates in modern gaming keyboards.

A Surprisingly Low Price

Perhaps the biggest surprise is the price. At $64.99, the C100 offers 100 switches, keycaps and a custom PCB for considerably less than many enthusiast-oriented mechanical keyboard products.

The low price also appears to have contributed to its immediate sellout. Whether that reflects strong demand or simply a limited initial production run remains unclear.

For users who want something similar to an Elgato Stream Deck but prefer physical mechanical keys and extensive customization, the C100 offers an inexpensive alternative.
