Microsoft announced in 2023 that it would be retiring the Mail, Calendar, and People apps on Windows, replacing them with Outlook for Windows. While these apps will remain available on the Microsoft Store until December 31, 2024, the transition to Outlook has been met with mixed reactions, primarily due to the newer app’s limited feature set compared to its predecessors.
However, it seems that Microsoft has been listening to user feedback. According to Windows Latest, the company is planning to introduce around 30 new features to the Outlook app later this year, addressing many of the concerns raised by users.
Some of the new features include support for PST files, more flexible email retention controls, and the ability to pin frequently used folders at the top of the app for quick access. Additionally, Outlook will integrate AI-powered assistance with Copilot, allowing users to refine and rewrite their emails with ease.
You can find a complete list of all the upcoming enhancements to Outlook for Windows on the official Microsoft 365 website.
