If you’ve ever accidentally closed File Explorer while managing multiple folders and tabs, you know the hassle of reopening them and trying to pick up where you left off. Thankfully, that inconvenience is being addressed with an upcoming feature.
In the latest Windows 11 Insider Preview build on the Beta Channel (spotted by Windows Latest), File Explorer now has a feature that remembers your open tabs.
Once you enable the “Restore previous folder windows at logon” option in File Explorer’s settings, the system will retain all your open tabs and restore them when you log back into Windows.
This update is currently available only in the Beta update KB5046733 (Build 22635.4580) for Windows 11. It remains to be seen when this feature will roll out to all users.
