YouTube TV Price Jumps to $82.99 per Month Starting January 2025
Google has confirmed a $10 price hike for YouTube TV, increasing the live TV streaming service’s monthly subscription fee to $82.99. The new pricing, effective January 13, 2025, will impact both new and existing subscribers, with existing users seeing the change on their first bill after that date.
According to an official support document, Google attributed the price hike to “the rising cost of content” and emphasized that the adjustment is designed to reflect the value that YouTube TV offers. For subscribers currently on promotional rates, discounts will remain valid until their respective terms conclude.
This announcement follows speculation triggered by a Verizon promotion referencing the higher rate. Although the “TeamYouTube” account initially dismissed the mention as inaccurate, it turns out the ad had foreshadowed the upcoming change.
YouTube TV’s price increase aligns it with Hulu + Live TV’s ad-supported plan, which rose to $82.99 in October 2024. Similarly, Sling TV implemented a smaller $5.99 rate hike in November, pointing to the same industry-wide challenge of escalating content costs. These frequent adjustments have made streaming services more expensive than many anticipated during the early cord-cutting era.
The last time YouTube TV raised its prices was in April 2023, when the service jumped by $7 to its current rate of $72.99. While features like unlimited DVR storage, a robust channel lineup, and seamless streaming across devices continue to make it a compelling option, the steep price increase may drive budget-conscious subscribers to explore alternatives. As the streaming market becomes increasingly saturated with higher-priced options, consumers may face tough decisions about which services offer the best value for their viewing needs.
