In a bold move that further blurs the line between work and travel, Mercedes-Benz has partnered with Microsoft to embed both Teams video calls and the AI-driven Copilot assistant into its next-generation vehicles. Starting with the 2025 CLA and the launch of the MBUX 4.0 interface this summer, drivers will be able to participate in Teams meetings via an integrated in-car camera and access protected company data through Microsoft Intune, turning their car into a mobile conference room.
To address safety concerns, Mercedes and Microsoft confirmed that the Teams video feed will automatically shut off when the car is moving, and drivers won’t see distracting content like shared screens or presentations. Users can still communicate via audio, dictate messages, and consult their calendar using a dedicated “Next Meetings” feature. The system is intended to balance utility with caution, providing productivity without risking driver focus.
Even more transformative is the planned inclusion of Microsoft 365 Copilot. The AI assistant will allow drivers to summarize emails, check on client data, and manage daily tasks through simple voice prompts. Although Mercedes hasn’t set a firm rollout date for Copilot, its arrival would mark one of the first full-scale implementations of Microsoft’s AI assistant in an automobile—offering a preview of what a fully connected, intelligent vehicle workspace could look like.
This isn’t Microsoft’s first foray into the auto industry—its earlier Sync system with Ford had mixed success—but Mercedes appears confident that a modern AI-powered approach will appeal to today’s remote and hybrid workers. The base price of the 2025 CLA starts at $45,550, with premium models reaching $54,350. The Teams and Copilot functionality will be part of the optional Active Entertainment Package Plus, the cost of which depends on market and region.
By merging automotive luxury with enterprise-grade software, Mercedes and Microsoft are positioning the car not just as transportation, but as a dynamic extension of the digital workspace.
