ExpressVPN is overhauling its subscription model in a significant way, moving from a one-size-fits-all plan to a tiered membership structure with three distinct levels. Starting September 2, users can choose between Basic, Advanced, and Pro plans, giving more flexibility in price and features while ensuring that every subscriber still receives the company’s hallmark privacy protections.
The shift comes after years of ExpressVPN being considered one of the best VPNs on the market but also one of the priciest. With the new structure, entry-level access is more affordable, while premium plans now come with security extras that would normally cost much more if purchased separately. All plans are available as monthly, annual, or two-year subscriptions, with deeper discounts on longer commitments, and every membership includes the company’s 30-day money-back guarantee.
Even at the entry level, ExpressVPN is adding value. The Basic tier keeps the essential VPN features, including its proprietary Lightway protocol, global server network across 105 countries, servers in every U.S. state, and strong post-quantum encryption. It also now supports 10 simultaneous device connections—an upgrade over the previous single-plan model. The Basic plan is priced at $3.49 per month for a two-year subscription, plus four free months.
The Advanced tier is aimed at users who want an extra layer of security and convenience. It builds on the Basic plan with a password manager, ID monitoring, an identity restoration service, and three days of unlimited international mobile data via eSIM. Subscribers also receive 12 device connections and a coupon for 50 percent off the company’s Aircove router. The Advanced plan runs $4.49 per month on a two-year subscription with four bonus months included.
Finally, the Pro tier bundles in everything from the other plans along with more specialized privacy features. Subscribers get a personal data removal service, monthly credit reports, and five days of unlimited eSIM data. Most importantly, they gain access to a dedicated IP address, something that normally comes as a pricey add-on with other VPNs but is baked directly into the Pro package. Users also get 14 device connections and a steep 75 percent discount on the Aircove router. Pricing is $7.49 per month on a two-year subscription, with four additional free months.
ExpressVPN says the redesign was built on user feedback and is designed to align with the way people use VPNs today. Privacy remains consistent across all three plans, but subscribers can now tailor their security extras to their individual needs. For current customers, nothing changes unless they voluntarily move to a new tier, but for new users, the plans offer more choice than ever before.
