The Epic Games Store has refreshed its weekly free-game lineup, and this time a standout title is grabbing attention: Nobody Wants to Die. The narrative-driven detective game, built on Unreal Engine 5, is free to claim for a limited time, offering players a visually striking mystery set in a futuristic world where death has effectively been eliminated.
Set in the year 2329, the story imagines a society where people can avoid death by transferring memories and consciousness into new bodies through specialized chips. But immortality comes with consequences. When a string of murders targets wealthy citizens who have access to this technology, detective James Karra is tasked with unraveling the truth behind the killings.
Blending film-noir storytelling with cyberpunk aesthetics and moral dilemmas, the game focuses heavily on player decisions that shape the investigation. Rather than fast-paced action, it delivers a slower, story-centric experience built around atmosphere, dialogue, and detective work. Critics have praised its unique setting and thought-provoking themes, helping it earn generally positive reviews following its July 2024 release.
On PC, Nobody Wants to Die holds a mid-70s Metacritic score, with many reviewers highlighting its strong visual design and narrative depth. The game typically sells for $24.99, but it can now be added to players’ Epic libraries for free. Once claimed, it remains permanently accessible even after the promotional period ends.
The free offer runs until February 19 at 11 AM. Players simply need an Epic Games account to claim the title and add it to their library. Alongside the main giveaway, indie adventure The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark is also available at no cost during the same period.
