Microsoft’s Latest Windows Update Fixes Issues, Causes Taskbar Problems

Microsoft recently released an optional Windows update that posed a risk of sending PCs into a reboot loop. To address this, the update rollout was halted mid-delivery until the issue could be fixed.

The reboot loop bug has now been resolved, and the KB5039302 update is once again available for Windows 11 users. This updated version includes a check for virtualization software like CloudPC, DevBox, Azure Virtual Desktop, or VMware. Installation is only allowed if such software is not running, according to the relevant support document from Microsoft.

However, this fix has introduced a new problem: the latest Windows update could make your taskbar unusable. Reports indicate that the taskbar fails to load with the KB5039302 update, primarily affecting Windows N users and Windows 11 users (versions 23H2 and 22H2) who have disabled “Media features” in the settings.

Although this issue is unlikely to affect many users, those who find their taskbar missing in Windows 11 should know that Microsoft is actively working on a fix and plans to include it in an upcoming release.
