Apple has extended the deadline for support of its legacy Home platform, giving users until February 10, 2026 to transition to the updated Home architecture. This marks a short reprieve from the previously announced cutoff in fall 2025, providing extra time for users who haven’t yet migrated.
The new Home framework, introduced in late 2022, was designed to enhance reliability and efficiency for HomeKit devices but initially faced criticism for bugs, including unresponsive hubs and devices stuck in “Updating” mode. Apple addressed these issues with a revised rollout in February 2023, and since then the system has largely operated without major problems.
Many users remain on the older platform due to lingering concerns over device compatibility and the fact that the previous Home setup allowed an iPad to serve as a hub, a feature no longer supported. Apple’s extension comes as speculation grows over updated Apple TV 4K and HomePod hardware, giving users ample time to adjust before the older system is retired.
