After months of anticipation and shifting release dates, Grand Theft Auto VI has officially been delayed to November 19, 2026. Fans had initially expected the game in 2025, with a May 2026 release later announced, but Rockstar Games confirmed the pushback in a blog post, citing the need for additional polish. The extra development time is intended to perfect the game’s sprawling world, including the state of Leonida and a return to modern-day Vice City.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick reiterated that the delay reflects a focus on delivering the highest-quality experience possible. He stated that the November release aligns with the company’s fiscal year and provides a strategic launch window while supporting Rockstar’s approach to development.
At launch, GTA VI will be playable on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, with a PC version likely arriving later. The industry is also buzzing about a rumored $100 price tag, making it one of the priciest major releases in recent memory. Despite the wait, excitement continues to build for what promises to be a landmark entry in the Grand Theft Auto series.
