AMD’s High-End Ryzen 9 X3D Chips Launch March 12—Pricing and Details
If you’re building a high-performance gaming rig, AMD’s X3D processors continue to be among the best gaming CPUs available. With 3D V-Cache boosting performance, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D has been a fan favorite, but now, AMD is preparing to launch the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D—and they’re coming on March 12.
However, leaked prices from Chinese retailer JD.com suggest they’ll be 5,599 yuan ($772 USD) and 4,599 yuan ($634 USD), respectively. While international pricing differences exist due to factors like value-added tax (VAT), a rough comparison suggests the U.S. pricing could be closer to $650-$660 for the 9950X3D and around $540 for the 9900X3D.
For reference, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is listed at 4,000 yuan (~$552 USD) in China, compared to $479 in the U.S., aligning closely with the country’s 15% VAT rate. If that trend continues, AMD’s new Zen 5 X3D chips should remain competitively priced against previous generations, making them an exciting upgrade for PC gamers.
While global availability details remain unclear, March 12 is confirmed for the U.S. release, making it one of the most anticipated CPU launches of 2024. If AMD’s next-gen X3D processors continue to deliver industry-leading gaming performance, these chips could be the best gaming CPUs of the year.
