Energizer is bringing its reputation for oversized batteries into the laptop world with the EnergyBook Pro Ultra, a new flagship from Avenir Telecom that sits alongside the EnergyBook Pro 15 and EnergyBook Pro XL 18. What makes the Ultra unique is its enormous 192 watt-hour battery (13,000mAh), the largest ever seen in a laptop. Energizer claims it can deliver up to 28 hours of browsing, 11 hours of intensive use such as gaming, and even up to a week of standby time—numbers that dwarf the typical endurance of most notebooks.
But while the huge battery is impressive, it also means the laptop won’t be travel-friendly. Aviation authorities, including the FAA, limit lithium-ion batteries on commercial flights to 160 watt-hours. With the Ultra sitting well above that threshold, owners won’t be able to carry it on planes, which restricts its use to home, office, or stationary setups.
Hardware-wise, the EnergyBook Pro Ultra features an 18-inch 1920×1200 display, an AMD Ryzen 5 processor, 16GB of DDR4 memory, and a 512GB SSD. These specs position it as a competent mid-range machine rather than a high-performance powerhouse, but its real appeal lies in the sheer length of time it can run without needing a charge. Starting prices for the series begin at €449 (about $523) for the smaller variants, though final pricing for the Ultra itself may be higher.
For those who value battery longevity above portability, the EnergyBook Pro Ultra offers an extreme solution—practically guaranteeing uninterrupted use for days on end, so long as you’re not trying to take it through airport security.
