Microsoft is rolling out a highly anticipated feature for Windows 11 that will enhance the way users interact with their Android phones. The new update, currently in beta, allows you to access your Android device directly from File Explorer, simplifying the process of managing files between your phone and PC.
Gone are the days of struggling with USB cables. This feature enables you to wirelessly browse, move, copy, delete, and rename files on your Android phone straight from your Windows 11 desktop. It’s a significant upgrade for anyone who frequently handles files between their devices.
To get started, make sure your Android phone is on Android 11 or higher and has the beta version of the Link to Windows app from the Google Play Store. Your PC must be running Windows 11. The feature is accessible to Windows Insiders at this stage. To activate it, go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mobile Devices, then select Manage devices to allow your PC to connect to your phone. A new toggle will appear in File Explorer, giving you immediate access to your phone’s files.
