Microsoft has begun rolling out a new Windows 11 update that introduces several features alongside routine security fixes. The update, identified as KB5074105, follows the company’s monthly Patch Tuesday schedule and will be delivered gradually to users over time.
One of the key additions is an expanded cross-device resume function. The feature allows users to continue activities across devices, such as pausing music on a smartphone and resuming playback on a Windows PC. Initial support includes Spotify playback and file continuity between select Android devices and Windows systems. Some smartphones from brands like Honor, Oppo, Samsung, Vivo, and Xiaomi will also be able to reopen files accessed through Microsoft apps across devices.
The update also includes improvements to Windows Hello security and a redesigned device information card within system settings. These device cards provide a clearer overview of hardware details such as CPU, storage, and memory. In addition, accessing certain storage settings now requires administrator approval through User Account Control, a change Microsoft says is intended to prevent unauthorized access to system files.
Because the update is being rolled out gradually, not all features may appear immediately on every system. Microsoft typically enables new functionality in stages to monitor performance and compatibility.
The latest update reflects Microsoft’s ongoing effort to integrate cross-device features and refine security controls while delivering regular system maintenance and bug fixes through its monthly update cycle.
